We are looking to recruit a highly motivated DCS Technician to join our Rhineland Refinery near Cologne.

The purpose of the role is to deliver maintenance support for the production units by managing the engineering and implementation of major repairs and lead for medium projects (Capex/ Opex) based on Shell Standards, Safety & Quality Standards and local guidelines within the Control-System DCS/ PLC Discipline for the whole Rhineland Refinery.

The job holder is responsible for the conceptual design, implementation, realisation and sustainable enhancement of these technologies and the relevant software-applications.The job holder is responsible for the availability and reliability of all DCS- and PLC systems and applications in the Rhineland Refinery (Honeywell TDC, FSC, Experion, Hispec; Siemens ME, TXP, Simatic, PCS 7) incl. TPN-, FTE- and H1 –Network over the whole Rhineland Refinery area.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for engineering and implementation of minor repairs and small projects (Capex/ Opex) within time and budget regarding that all project specifications are fully in line with German Authority legislations and local guidelines and overall Rhineland Refinery Management systems ( DEPs, SDO Standards (technical & commercial), DEA-Standards, VDE Standards etc
  • Ensure system integrity and sustainable system/ plant availability within project/ maintenance scopes: observance of Rhineland Refinery plant changes procedure (RR-VA-4-001); ensure that design and execution is in accordance with DEP- and SDO-/ DEA- Standards; employment/ recruitment of appropriate, professional engineering- and construction- contractors; coordinate the involvement of maintenance, operating, reliability, inspection and technology within projects/ maintenance scopes; develop project- quality plans and perform
  • Ensure cost optimisation: optimise project concepts; manage front end engineering activities; identify project risks; deliver accurate cost estimates; develop project execution strategies and plans; manage project interfaces and integrate operational requirements into the projects
  • During the implementation phase, manage, monitor and co-ordinate detailed design & engineering, procurement activities. Provide basic- and detail- engineering documents: manage contractor employment and detailed design activities; assure that documents are in accordance with shell standards and available on time; manage input of other disciplines ( instrumentation, electrical engineering) and system-inspection; check deliverables and drawings submitted by third parties; ensure that all documents and information are available to maintenance execution before start of construction
  • Manage maintenance and project execution: manage equipment, material and service procurement processes in close cooperation with C&P and engineering contractor; develop/ check technical requirements/ specifications for third party deliverables; check bid comparisons performed by engineering contractor; coordinate/ assure contractor resources, provide milestone plans for PU- planer and scheduler. Distinct customer orientation extern/intern
  • Experience in analysis of complex correlations with multiple interfaces and identification of the necessary activities
  • Ensure control process: specify quality assure/ control requirements and manage development of maintenance/ project quality plans; provide documents to maintenance execution; implement change control process; identify lessons learned and manage reviews
  • Ensure as built documentation: updating SAP data and AIM documents; assure as built documentation in accordance with the plant change procedure by engineering contractor; provide spare part recommendations
  • Manage internal project personnel & resources
  • Manage, review and approve Engineering Contractors deliverables 
  • Provide input to Project KPIs



Requirements:
  • Technical education or Bachelor / Master Degree in Engineering and experience in Instrument & Automation industry or manufacturing locations (Refinery Plants or Chemical Industry).
  • Significant experience and detailed knowledge in instrument technology
  • Significant experience of DCS/PLC system technology/ Automation system technology
  • Excellent knowledge in the software configuration of Experion PKS Systems and TDC2000 and TDC3000 Systems
  • Excellent knowledge of working with databases
  • Very good experiences in control engineering (design and optimization) amd in the implementation of DCS projects
  • Good knowledge in Foundation Fieldbus technology
  • Excellent knowledge in the creation of operator graphics
  • Good knowledge in the administration of data networks and of asset management systems (AMS / FDM)
  • Knowledge in process technology
  • Experience in maintenance execution
  • Fluent English language skills
