Asset Optimisation and Trading (AOT) is the Business Division where all asset optimisation and trading activities are centralised for the Vattenfall Group. We are located in multiple sites across Europe with more than 600 professionals working from Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Poland. We trade the full range of energy commodities such as electricity, gas, oil, coal, freight, renewable energies and emissions and take responsibility for a diversified sourcing of power, fuels and carbon credits. We optimise and hedge Vattenfall’s generation assets in order to manage risk efficiently and optimise the portfolio value. These activities are the basis for maximising profitability and ensuring continuous business growth for Vattenfall and its customers.
For our office in Hamburg/Amsterdam we are looking for a: Senior Fuel Analyst
The Market Strategy team is a performance oriented department in the BU Portfolio Management that creates value by executing fundamental hedge deviation strategies. The deviation strategies are relying on deep market knowledge, active analytical support through an extensive utilization of the model landscape in AOT and insights in regulatory market issues.
Main tasks and responsibilities
•Responsible for providing gas- and coal market analysis
•Follow and analyze the future development of drivers for the fuel markets in order to quantify their impact on prices and our portfolios
•Take responsibility for improvement and calibration of fuel market models used within Market Strategy
•Use the models on regular basis and make sure they are properly benchmarked
•Monitor strategies and ensure monitoring is transparent and sustainable
•Challenge deviation strategies and come up with own ideas
•University degree (e.g. Mathematics, Physics, Economics etc.)
•Experience in energy markets, especially gas and coal
•Understanding of how to use fundamental market models in a commercial-driven manner
•Ability to create own market opinion and argue for it in a structured way
•Knowledge in mathematical modeling and statistical analysis
•Experienced user of Excel
•Strong analytical skills
•Ability to work in teams as well as by your own
•Excellent communication skills in English
•Reliable and stress-resistant, pro-active behavior
•Willing to travel occasionally
