Senior Programme Manager eBay

We are looking for a Senior Manager Strategic Shipping Partnerships, based in our DE office in Dreilinden, Germay, to join the EU Strategic Carrier relationship and Global Shipping platform team, to manage eBay Marketplace DE efforts around shipping, logistics and overall delivery experience to drive key L1 and L2 measures including GMV, NPS and operating profit. The role encompasses general management, project management, product marketing, business development and the strategic interface with major shipping and logistics partners.

This role will be responsible for negotiating contracts with, and the operational management of, major shipping partners. He/she will als manage the contract negotiation cost structure with existing and new shipping partners and manage the shipping partner performance and execute against key activities and joint shipping initiatives which include the launch of new shipping product offerings, streamlining existing shipping product offerings, marketing campaign management, and reporting.

The role will be the go to person for the DE team on shipping and delivery experience matters in DE.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Quickly understand the key initiatives in play and work with the shipping team and key partners (Seller Marketing, Merch Dev, Product, etc.) to ensure their successful delivery.

  • Identify incremental opportunities to drive EU shipping goals – drive for innovative solutions we can execute with minimal effort.

  • Managing the day-to-day business of shipping partner operations.

  • Leads negotiations with carriers and needs to develop close relations with lead partners

  • Identifying and developing new partnership opportunities based on strategic objectives.

  • Contributing to the continued development of and actively managing our various shipping partner platforms.

  • Interfacing with internal teams to ensure goals are coordinated and partner expectations are met or exceeded.

  • Market research to support the go to market process for new partner opportunities.

  • Attending industry events to network and maintain eBay's presence.

  • Collaborating with the Senior Manager of Strategic Shipping Partnerships to set partnership strategy.

  • Manage quarterly shipping partner business reviews.

  • Manage shipping partner performance and track associated results.

  • Identify future growth strategies to lower shipping costs, drive on-eBay shipping platform adoption, and improve customer experience.

  • Capable of developing required business relationships without a large degree of supervision and with a very favorable 'deal making' track record.

  • Maintains subject matter expertise in eBay technologies, verticals and lines of business in order to help align shipping partner needs to products, solutions, and services offered. Consults with various internal and external teams to ensure commitments made to shipping partners are appropriate based on current capabilities.

Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of German Market and business level language is a must

  • 5+ years direct experience managing carrier partner relationships and processes in an online industry or have worked for a carrier.

  • Strong legal contracting, negotiations, executive presentation, and financial analysis skills.

  • Acts as primary point of contact during strategic implementation; manages client expectations.

  • Evaluates shipping data, competitor information, account strategy, marketing plans and other information to determine the marketing dynamics of the shipping industry and consults with shipping partners on strategies to expand market share.

  • Acts as strategic account owner. Accountable to shipping partner regarding cost, revenue, and strategy goals.

  • Keeps informed of latest industry news, trends, products, services, competitors, and relevant existing and emerging technologies.

  • Bachelor's degree required and ability to travel (estimated 1 international trip/quarter).
