We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Senior Project Finance Advisor to join our Rheinland Refinery.

The purpose of the role is to contribute as Finance business partner to the business, specifically:

  • To provide support, advice and challenge to the projects with a target towards value creation and protection and Top Quartile delivery throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Ensure the business control environment is maintained and operational - RtP, contract commitments & budget controls, contingency & allowance release process
  • Accountable for an efficient planning and reporting structure in place against defined KPIs and milestones
  • Actively participate in the project Leadership Team discussions on risk and participate in risk management workshops. Provide assurance on risk management ensuring mitigations are in place with periodic review. Challenge of cost and schedule estimates and contingency management to ensure appropriate reflection of risks. Represents Finance on Project VAR's and ESAR's.
  • Contribute to commercial negotiations; Review and implement governing agreements for projects;
  • Facilitate economic reviews and assurance for quality of inputs/outputs challenging underlying economic and commercial assumptions and sensitivities, ensuring that the risks and opportunities are correctly reflected in the project economics to enable objective ranking of opportunities
  • Participate in contracting strategy discussions to ensure alignment with project framing agreements and identify contract risks mitigating and/or allocating between contractor and company. Optimize contract cost recovery throughout strategy and award stages; Review of contract pricing, risks, incentives, insurance, currency, FX exposure, liabilities, termination clauses etc. Review contract board proposals and ensure alignment with C&P framework lead (sub)contractor audits;
  • Ensure monthly and quarterly reporting processes are timely and accurately completed. Ensure integrity of inputs to project and financial accounting for Group and fiscal purposes, incl. capital and fixed asset accounting and reliable recording of value of work done (VOWD), as well as ensure monthly and quarterly reporting processes are timely and accurately completed. Ensure compliance with insurance control framework including response to scope/value change, schedule delays, risk review programmes, claims management process, identification of legacy issues.
  • To ensure application of Finance in Projects standards to all projects and to ensure compliance to the Investment Decision Manual (IDM) for relevant Group Investment Proposals (IPs)

Requirements:

Qualified Finance professional with knowledge and experience in cost reporting, management information, budgeting procedures and a drive for continuous improvement.

  • Background in project finance, accounting and finance operational (GSAP)
  • High energy, high impact personality with can-do mentality, self-starting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with (senior) stakeholders and (virtual) finance organization
  • Ability to deliver in a complex project environment whilst retaining excellent relationships
  • Good analytical skills. Able to distill key insights from complex data, preferably with experience in Lean & Six Sigma or willingness to learn.
  • Understanding of Governance & Business Control
  • Manufacturing and/or Chemicals experience preferred as well as exposure to the role of Business Opportunity Manager
  • Accreditation in Accounting or Finance, preferably with business finance experience
